Nice Antique/Vintage Advertising Wall Thermometer, Newfield Bank & Trust, Bridgeport, Conn., c.1920-1930D
ESCRIPTION:
Scans show it all.....Nice original advertising thermometer, appears to be vintage/antique, c. 1920-1930. Very early style, from the days when such things were given out as advertising promotional items for opening accounts, etc.
Given by the NEWFIELD BANK & TRUST CO., 1200 STRATFORD AVE, BRIDGEPORT, CONN......"General Banking, mortgage loans, insurance". Also says "&Get a Grip on Success$...One Dollar Opens an Account, Do it Now!".
Backing is painted wood. Thermometer is typical mercury type. Appears to be in excellent condition and functions properly. Nice perforated metal protective cover over bottom of mercury basin.
According to painting it was a Permacolor Themometer, made by Taylor.
VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND SUCH AN ITEM IN THIS NICE CONDITION ANYMORE!! Also very nice to find a named bank and an identified item from BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT.
