Description
Farmers’ and Mechanics Savings Bank, Sacramento, CA c.1890, stamp book, disclosureAbout this Item:
Two historic items from this early California bank that was purchased by Bank of America (Bank of Italy) in 1923. One is an unused 5 cent stamp deposit book. The book is completely intact and is composed of a cover listing officers and directors, inside cover explains terms and conditions, 10 pages to affix the 20 stamps on each, an inside back cover listing stockholders and the back cover lists about 30 local businesses that will accept and transmit the filled pages to the savings bank. It measures 6-1/2 x 4-1/2 inches. The other item is a small booklet outlining the terms and conditions for making deposits at the bank. It has 4 pages (compared to today’s booklets that exceed 100 pages), and measures 5-1/2 x 3-3/4 inches.
Condition:
Both are in excellent condition. The stamp book has a 1-1/2 inch tear along the stapled spine and a hard crease on the back page. The terms and conditions has a hard crease on the front which looks like a printing crease. Otherwise, it’s pristine.
The pictures show the actual booklets you receive.
