As all serious collectors of this format are well aware, proper preventive maintenance is an absolute must if the integrity of an 8-track is to be retained with continued use.
A piece of adhesive tape was carefully affixed to the two tape ends as reinforcement underneath the silver foil in order to prevent it from snapping, thus avoiding a much more difficult repair job down the road.
In taking this protective measure, neither the tape nor the plastic cartridge were affected in any way and the 8-track itself still has a distinct freshness about it.}
