    Description

    Vintage 1938 The Farmers State Bank & Trust Co., Jacksonville, Illinois, official bank ledger with checks and slips. This is an official bank book and ledger used during the Great Depression. Green label in back indicates book was made by George D. Barnard Stationery Co., St. Louis and Dallas.
    Sturdy black and red ledger measures 10 x 13 1/2 inches. Includes 36 pages of new, unused checks (3 to a page = 108 checks), one page with two unused checks signed by "G.D. Rhodes," one page with one unused check plus 65 ledger pages showing $$ amount of past used checks, dates and payees and some miscellaneous detached checks with writing on the back. Some of the payees from 1938 include Swift & Co., Wilson & Co., Hunter Packing Co., Jacksonville Journal Courier, Armour & Co., Capitol City Press, Toledo Scale Co., Arnold Bros. Inc., Peoria Creamery Co., James Hall, Dover Packing Co., et al.
    Excellent condition with only minimal wear.
    The Farmers State Bank & Trust Co. was founded by a group of prominent area businessmen and farmers  in Jacksonville, Illinois, in 1910. It officially opened for business on January 4, 1911.
